Date of Service: Dec. 19, 2024
BURLEY -Marc Howard was born on October 20, 1950, in Dayton, Washington, the middle child of Nelson and Lucille Howard. His sister and brothers are Tom, Liz, Ron and Pat. Marc suddenly flew away on December 10, 2024, at his home in Burley, Idaho. Our family was close, and we will miss him dearly.
When Marc was young, the family moved several times, settling in American Falls, Idaho in 1960 because his father, Nelson, was involved with the building of Lamb Weston. In high school, Marc was a wrestler, played football, and was on the golf team. After graduating from American Falls High School in 1968 he attended Idaho State University and graduated with a degree in Agronomy from University of Idaho. He loved the Vandals. Marc started his working career in Ontario, Oregon. Later he moved to Burley to work for McCain Foods. He worked for McCain for 30-plus years in the field department. He was well-known and highly respected by his growers and fellow workers.
Marc and his three brothers played golf together and created the “Howard Golfing Association” in the early 1990's. During many summers they would meet for a “HGA” and play many rounds of golf in different parts of the West. They wore matching shirts and hats with “HGA” on them. Marc loved taking photos, flying his drone, and showing what he had filmed. Among other things, he documented the construction of the new McCain’s potato cellars with his drone.
Marc met the love of his life Susan Lavender in Twin Falls. They spent 15 wonderful years together.
Marc was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Susan Lavender; his brothers, Tom Howard (wife, Mitch) of Littleton, Colorado, Ron Howard of Tucson, Arizona, and Pat Howard of Bend, Oregon; his sister, Liz Davis (husband, Jim) of Burley; as well as several nieces and nephews. Additionally, he is survived by Susan Lavender’s daughter, Valerie Lavender; her granddaughter, Emma; and great-grandson, Beck.
The celebration of Marc’s life will be held Thursday, December 19, 2024, from 1 until 4 pm at the Best Western Burley Inn Convention Center, located at 800 N. Overland Ave, in Burley.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
