RUPERT – Arlo RuDean Kent, a 92-year-old, longtime resident of Rupert, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024, at Stonebridge Assisted Living in Wendell.
Arlo was born October 13, 1932, in Acequia, Idaho, at his grandmother’s house, to George Arlo and May Phillips Kent. He attended school in Acequia; after graduation, he served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
Soon after his service in the Army, he married Vera Jerene Crum of Weiser, Idaho. They had three children, Diane, James Jefferson and Thomas Christopher.
Arlo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and siblings, DeVere, Myrna and Arvon; as well as two grandsons.
He is survived by his children; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
Arlo enjoyed life; he loved to read and was very well educated. He had a wide array of skills and interests including taxidermy; he was a golden glove boxer while in the Army, a cowboy; he learned gunsmithing, painting, magic, skin diving, dancing, singing, acting, diesel mechanics, law, ran for office and, of course, genealogy and temple service.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2024, at Rupert Cemetery, located at 450 N. Meridian Rd., in Rupert. Military rites will be performed by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Group.
Family and friends will be received prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley.
