Carolyn Kerr Heaton left her earthly mortality on Monday, November 25, 2024, to join her husband, parents, and many other family members.

Carolyn was born on January 15, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the third child of Elmo Parrish and Estella Mildred Brunyer Kerr. She had one brother, Don Elmo, and three sisters, Joyce, Gayle, and Kathleen. Carolyn later included her sister-in-law, Kathryn Rowley, as a sister to love and cherish.

For the first sixteen years of Carolyn’s life, she lived in Bountiful, Utah. The Kerr family had a fruit stand business on 5th West where all members of the family worked hard to contribute to the success of the business. Carolyn loved working beside her dad many long hours each day sorting, displaying, and selling the produce to customers. She attended her elementary and junior high in Bountiful and then went to high school at Davis High School. One of Carolyn’s favorite passions was playing the clarinet in the band.

Carolyn met Earl Burke Heaton at the age of 15 and married him at the age of 16, on June 18, 1954, in the Salt Lake Temple. This was the beginning of a huge posterity. The couple eventually had 14 children!

Carolyn and Burke Heaton lived in Alpine, Utah, from 1955 until 1977, working on the family dairy farm. In 1977, they sold the farm and moved to Standrod, Utah, where they took up cattle ranching and raising kids.

Carolyn was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many church positions with dedication and true purpose of heart. A few of her passions were writing for the newspaper, working as a 4-H leader for 50 years, oil painting, and most of all, supporting her family in all of their different activities. She expressed her love through giving gifts and quality time. She was proud of her family and she made everyone feel like they were the “neatest” and that she’d never known anyone smarter, more talented, or more beautiful. She was a strong grandma who could do a headstand well into her 70s. You could find her peeling potatoes and cooking in the kitchen for hours, traveling with family, or helping in some way for everyone around her. She found humor in all aspects of life and frequently had a funny saying or song to share. She lived a lifetime of service and sacrifice for her children and grandchildren.

As of the date of this writing, Carolyn can claim 88 grandchildren, 157 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Her last words to her family were, “I love you all” and she certainly did by word and deeds. Carolyn is survived by twelve of her children: Debbie (Gerry) Hoyt of Orderville, Utah, Kim Heaton of Highland, Utah, Cathy (Mike) Bostwick of Malad, Idaho, Curtis (Charlene) Heaton of Paradise, Utah, Darla Hansen of Standrod, Utah, Jon Heaton of Orem, Utah, Jex (Lanise) Heaton of North Ogden, Utah, Rod (Shelley) Heaton of Payson, Utah, Tenaly Bleak of Otis, Colorado, Amy Fielding, of Elba, Idaho, Tyler (Robin) Heaton of Panaca, Nevada, and Jed (Meshia) Heaton of Standrod, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings; her husband, Burke; her two sons, Brent Heaton and Guy Heaton; and two grandsons, Porter Heaton and Zachary Heaton.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Almo Ward, located at 834 E. 2985 S., in Almo, with Bishop Lavell Erickson officiating. Burial will follow in the Standrod Cemetery, Standrod, Utah.

Family and friends will be received at the church from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, December 6, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, prior to the funeral service.
