BURLEY – Ellen Jo McNeely Green, age 82, of Burley, went to her eternal home on Thursday, November 21, 2024, with her children by her side.

Ellen was born August 23, 1942, in Rupert, Idaho, to James and Izora McNeely. At the age of 14 years old, Ellen lived with her three siblings and a friend due to her parents passing away. She lived in several states until the age of 18 years old when she returned to Rupert. She started working at Ore-Ida in Burley, which was where she met the love of her life, Vernon G. Green. They were married on May 29, 1962.

Ellen began her career in education. During this time, she helped start the Head Start program and later became a kindergarten aide teacher for a few years. After her time in education, she returned to Ore-Ida/McCain, where she retired from in August of 2008.

Vernon and Ellen had six children together. Ellen enjoyed reading her romance novels and watching M.A.S.H.

She is survived by all six of her children, Robin (Bruce) Tepley of Florida, Christine Allshouse of Burley, Betty (Steve) Still of Washington, James Green of Burley, Vern (Tina) Green of Burley, and Donna Green of Albion; as well as 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, James and Izora McNeely; her spouse, Vernon G. Green; all thirteen of her siblings; two grandchildren; and one son-in-law.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 5, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Star 1st Ward, located at 96 S. 200 W., of Burley, with Bishop Ryan Hobson officiating. Burial will follow at View Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received at the church from 10 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
