RUPERT – Berva Joan Moon Miller, an 89-year-old resident of Rupert, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Minidoka Memorial Hospital in Rupert.
Joan was born October 6, 1935, in Rupert, Idaho, the daughter of William Ray and Clara Almeda Whitaker Moon. She received her education in Rupert and graduated from Rupert High School in 1954. She married Eugene Wesley Miller on April 2, 1954, in Rupert. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on April 2, 1957.
During her high school years she worked at King’s Department Store. Joan was fortunate to be a stay-at-home mother until her children were in school. She then started her career in banking with Idaho First National Bank, which later became WestOne Bank, and she retired from US Bank after many years of service.
Joan enjoyed knitting, crocheting, making beautiful greeting cards, and ceramics.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joan served as a Primary president, Relief Society president, secretary in the stake Sunday School presidency, and was a faithful member of the ward choir.
She is survived by her husband, Wesley Miller of Rupert; four children, Beverly (Gary) Garner and Candy (Wendell) Jones both of Rupert, Sandy (Stanley) Baker of Burley, and Wesley Dee Miller (Thomas Sedlak) of Fresno, California; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Moon of Buhl.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a triplet son, Randy Eugene Miller; and all of her siblings, Thora Josephine Overstreet, Thor (Utahna) Lund, Clara Adelia (Cecil) Shaw, Bartlett Ray Moon, Ora LaPreal (Joe) Uriguen, Benjamin Dean (Carlene) Moon, Betty Almeda (George) Darnell, Donna Elaine (Osa) Roy, William Dale Moon, and Barbara Jean Poole (Oly) Vanderhoff.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, where family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, October 14, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service. Burial will follow at Rupert Cemetery.
