Date of Service: Oct. 1, 2024

Kierra Jade Naing BURLEY – Kierra Jade Naing, 19, born on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, due to a sudden illness.

Kierra was the daughter of John and Renee Naing and sister to Kaitlyn and Kaycee, all of Burley, Idaho. Kierra loved her sisters more than anything in this entire world. In addition to her parents and sisters, Kierra is survived by her grandma, Carrie Thompson; grandparents, Ken and Kyi Kyi Whiting; uncles, Rob (Shantell) Thompson, Rick (Mindy) Thompson, Chris (Esther) Naing of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Rangen Yi of Boise. Kierra’s family network extended throughout the world with family members in multiple countries including Myanmar with her great-great-grandmother, Daw Nyunt Nyunt Tin of Yangon, Myanmar.

Kierra was so many different things to so many different people, but a source of love and laughter to all who knew her. Kierra had a love of music that she expressed in many ways. Beginning with dance at Dance Force Dance Studio in the second grade she would spend hours practicing her choreography and dance routines. She loved performing and loved to compete with her team. In junior high she stepped out of her comfort zone and competed in a Hip Hop solo and earned a solo trophy that she was tremendously proud of. She also began singing in choir in junior high and found a second outlet of music.

The choir program was something that Kierra cherished, but during this time dance was her complete focus as she was excelling with her studio and teaching younger kids. Kierra entered high school and continued to be a part of the mixed choir, dance studio and, in addition, a member of the Burley High School Stepperettes. During Kierra’s sophomore year, she broke her foot and was sidelined in dance for most of the year due to the break which required surgery in the spring. After surgery dancing was never the same for Kierra and she chose to change her focus to her love of music. Mr. Dusty Fisher of the Burley Choir program was her hero who encouraged her to audition for the higher choirs and Kierra decided to step out and be vulnerable; she made Bella Voce. As part of Bella Voce, Kierra was able to have the opportunity to work and save to pay for herself to be able to travel with the choir to Ireland the following summer before her senior year.

Kierra was a larger-than-life figure and had a way to connect with everyone she met along the way. She will be truly missed!
