Bret William Peterson BURLEY – Bret William Peterson, a 40-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2024.

Bret was born in Burley, Idaho, on August 21, 1984, one of five children born to Kem and Tara (Searle) Peterson. Bret graduated from Declo High School in 2003. After graduation, he joined the Idaho National Guard and went to South Carolina for basic training. Shortly after basic training, Bret was deployed to Iraq.

In July 2008, Bret met Jacqulyn (Tricia) Wardle; they were later married on May 22, 2010, in Boise, Idaho. Four months into their marriage, Bret was deployed back to Iraq for his second tour. Bret and Tricia later moved to Goodland, Kansas, and then on to Gallatin, Tennessee. They share five beautiful children. Bret loved being outdoors with nature as he engaged in hunting, fishing, and camping.

Bret is survived by his wife, Jacqulyn (Tricia); his five children, Makynna, Nevaeh, Remington, Kinsley, and Easton; his parents, Kem and Tara Peterson; brothers, Justin (Krystal) Peterson, Kyle (MacKenzie) Peterson, and Brandon (Breanne) Peterson; sister, Kelsie (Jeremiah) Southwick; grandparents, Eldon and Gwen Searle; along with many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 20, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Springdale 1st Ward, located at 519 E. 200 S., of Burley, with Bishop Troy Anderson officiating. Burial with military rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans will take place at View Cemetery following the service.

Family and friends will be received from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 19, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Friday, prior to the service at the church.
