Date of Service: Oct. 4, 2024
BURLEY – Virginia Manning Bell, age 96, formerly of Burley, Idaho, peacefully passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024, in Longmont, Colorado.
Virginia was born November 19, 1927, on her family’s farm in Springdale, Idaho. She was the eighth of ten children and the last remaining child of William Levi and Josephine (Mitchell) Manning. What a joyous reunion she must have had!
Growing up on a farm taught Virginia wonderful lessons. She knew what was important in life - creating a home where all would feel welcome. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She created a legacy of love that will last generations.
After World War II she married her high school sweetheart, Wesley Clark Bell, on June 6, 1947, in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They first met in the 9th grade and were together for 68 years. They started their family in Burley, Idaho, and eight years later they moved to Downey, California. At retirement they moved to Kent, Washington, and later to Orem, Utah.
Virginia’s ninety-six years were filled with service and love for her family and community. As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was always anxiously engaged in doing good and serving in various church callings. She and Wesley served a mission to Jacksonville, Florida in 1988. We still laughed at her stories of giant cockroaches and awful alligators, but know they made a difference by helping others.
Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wesley Clark Bell, who passed away in 2016. She is survived by her four children, Bonnie Bell Curtis (Jerry Curtis), Marsha Bell Ballantyne (Jon Ballantyne – who passed away in 2013), Cory W Bell (Patti Anderson Bell – who passed away in 2024), and Kevin M Bell (Terry Christensen Bell). Her legacy of love continues on with her 20 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 4, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, where family and friends will be received from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Humanitarian Fund.
