Sandra Leticia Alcala BURLEY – Sandra Leticia Alcala, a 62-year-old resident of Burley, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center, in Twin Falls. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Born February 22, 1962, in San Juan, Texas, Sandra was the daughter of Guadalupe Melchor Reyes and Maria Louisa Vasquez Reyes. Before settling in Idaho in 1974, Sandra lived in many places including Texas and California. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic church.

Sandra worked hard throughout her life and taught the value of hard work to her children. She worked in the fields as an agriculture laborer in her younger years and she also worked for the J.R. Simplot company for many years.

Sandra enjoyed yard sales, gardening, collecting antiques, spending time with her grandkids, shopping, fishing, collecting elephants, watching movies and taking her mother to her appointments. She loved helping people and was always willing to help no matter the situation. She cared for her kids and grandkids and was an excellent mother to them.

Sandra is survived by her children, Ricardo Reyes, Sandra Reyes, Erica Alcala, Anissa Tellez and Elijah Romero all of Burley; her siblings, Guadalupe Reyes of Boise, Isabele “Chavela” Urena of Burley, Blanca Torres of Rupert, Hector Reyes of Idaho, George Reyes of Burley, Corina Martinez of Idaho; grandchildren, Juan Tellez, Xavier Reyes, Assaryia Guzman, Jasara Guzman, Seryia Guzman, Alexander Reyes, Bradley Reyes, Arianna Reyes, Jayden Reyes, Rosa-Lynn Yehle, Eiffelena-Paris Yehle; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Rosa Labra and Maria “Gina” Flores; and brother, Ricardo Reyes.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 12, at St. Therese Little Flower Catholic Church, located at 1601 Oakley Ave., in Burley, with the Rev. Father Eladio Vieyra officiating. The interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Heyburn following the Mass.

An evening vigil will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 6 p.m.
