Betty Jean Simmons HEYBURN – Betty Jean Simmons, born Betty Jean Lee on June 13, 1938, in Aberdeen, Idaho, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at her home in Heyburn, Idaho, at the age of 85. She was a beautiful, loving, kind, creative, and generous woman who touched the lives of many.

She graduated from North Central High School in Spokane, Washington, later becoming a devoted wife and mother. Betty proudly served as a United States Air Force wife, supporting her spouse with strength and love.

Betty was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, finding solace in her faith. Betty’s hobbies included art, needlecraft, reading, and traveling to visit family and discover new places.

She is survived by seven siblings, Parley Lee, Carol Nelson, Barbara Jamison, Elinor Lewis, Hazel Hickman, Margaret Lybert, and Duane Lee; eight children, Sandra Saunders (Wyatt), Diana Mainville (Scott), Bobbi Simmons, Bill Simmons (Leslie), Sheri Craythorn (Gale), Chris Simmons, Beth Fewkes (Randy), and Jay Simmons (Shanni); 29 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; and two grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and those whose lives she touched. Her memory will be forever cherished and her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will live on.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Emerald 2nd Ward, located at 300 South 500 West, in Heyburn, with Bishop Chris James officiating. Burial will be at Snake River Canyon National Cemetery in Buhl.

Family and friends will be received from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, June 17, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th Street, in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, preceding the funeral, at the church.
