MURTAUGH – Raynald Stewart, 82, of Murtaugh, Idaho, was eternally reunited with his wife (Delaine) of 51 years, Friday, November 24, 2023, after he lost his courageous battle with bone cancer.

Raynald spent his youth in Wilford, Idaho. He was the eldest son of Evelyn and Elden Stewart, he learned the value of hard work and determination; attributes that would launch an admirable work ethic that would last a lifetime.

Delaine Ricks entered his life in 1960, and the two began a lifetime of fun, faith, love, and adventure with the eventual addition of their five children, J’Lene, Paul, Craig, Gary, and JoDee, making their family complete.

Raynald and Delaine moved to Big Piney, Wyoming, in 1978, to pursue a career with Northwest Pipeline. They were blessed as they made many lifelong friends during their time in Wyoming. Raynald retired from Northwest/Williams in 1999, and they moved to Murtaugh, Idaho, to be closer to Delaine’s family. It was in Murtaugh, that they found more family than either had expected as their ward and surrounding community embraced them.

Raynald was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served his Heavenly Father joyfully as a senior missionary in the Sydney South Australia mission, branch president (while on their mission), temple ordinance worker in both the Boise and Twin Falls temples, and held multiple ward callings. He loved serving the Lord and found enormous joy in exploring the natural world that Heavenly Father created.

He was an avid fisherman, a skilled hunter, and a much sought after companion when his sons and daughters desired an adventure. Raynald was the most at peace when creating beautiful wood creations in his workshop or relaxing in his Island Park summer oasis where he enjoyed riding his ATV on solo trail rides.

He was most loved and will be most missed by his five children: J’Lene (Jay) Buck, Paul (Rhonda) Stewart – all of Kemmerer, Wyoming, Craig (Nina) Stewart of Ft. Mohave, Arizona, Gary (Colleen) Stewart of Roosevelt, Utah, JoDee (Jim) Johnson of Logan, Utah; and numerous grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 2, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Murtaugh Ward, located at 23709 Hwy 30, Murtaugh, Idaho. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Wilford-Chester Cemetery, located at 2531 E. 225 N., in St. Anthony, ID.

Family and friends will be received at the church in Murtaugh from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, December 1, and from 9 until 9:45 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service.
