Oct. 24, 1950 - Jul. 6, 2023

Date of Service: Jul. 17, 2023

Cheryl Lynn Klosterman PAUL – Cheryl Lynn Klosterman, 72, of Paul, passed away peacefully at home, July 6, 2023.

Cheryl was born October 24, 1950, to Moon and Maxine Rasmussen in Rupert, Idaho. She was the second of four children.

The family made their home in Rupert, where they enjoyed living next door to Cheryl’s maternal grandparents, Sherman and Edna Anderson. When Cheryl was ten years old, her family moved to a brand-new house southwest of town, where the kids had a lot of room to run around and play.

Cheryl attended Minico High School, where she enjoyed participating in many extracurricular activities including cheerleader, President of the Thespians Club and playing tenor sax in the school band. After graduating from Minico in 1969, Cheryl attended Boise State College where she studied Education and Child Psychology.

Cheryl loved the water and was an avid swimmer, winning many medals on the Rupert Swim Team. She worked at the Rupert swimming pool as a lifeguard and swim instructor from ages 15 to 23. After she was married, she taught swim lessons to the Scouts so they could earn their merit badges.

Her love of the water also extended to waterskiing, sometimes in local canals while being pulled by a speeding pickup truck. Cheryl passed her love of swimming onto all her children.

Cheryl met the love of her life, Alan Klosterman, in high school, but they did not start dating until they attended college together. They soon fell in love and were married on May 25, 1974, in Rupert, Idaho.

Cheryl was a dedicated and amazing wife and mother who loved raising her four kids on the family farm. She could often be found operating a truck or tractor to help her husband, usually with one or more children in the cab beside her. She loved being a 4-H leader for her kids’ groups but there were never so many fights in our family as when we had to fill out the “Beet Books” for the fair.

Cheryl’s passion was her family. She often said, “All I ever wanted to be was a mom.” She excelled at being a wife and mother, making sure her family was always fed, clean, happy and felt loved.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Alan Klosterman; her parents, Moon and Maxine Rasmussen; her in-laws, Walt and Delma Klosterman; brother-in-law, Kent Klosterman; and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her siblings, Layne (Gayle) Rasmussen, Julie LeGault, and Stan (Betty) Rasmussen; her children, Kara (Patt) Souza, Erik (Toni) Klosterman, Arran (Patty Dixon) Klosterman, and Brandan (Weston) Rogers; her grandchildren, Kembrie, Kyler, Sutton, Fischer, Jolene, Chianna, Chloe, Rylee, and Randi Sue; and her great-grandchildren, Elijah-Dion and Elianna.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Jeff Swenson and staff for the many years of outstanding primary care and Idaho Home Health and Hospice for their kind guidance during Cheryl’s last days. There are no ways to express enough gratitude to Cheryl’s son, Arran, for giving her the best care possible during her last years.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 17, at Paul Cemetery, located at 550 W 100 N, Paul, Idaho. A celebration of life will follow. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.

A live webcast of the Graveside Service will be available and maintained at the following link: https://youtu.be/XF7LH3Ag9S8.
