Alverta Jensen Rucker RUPERT – Alverta Jensen Rucker, age 95, of Rupert, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023, at the home of her daughter, Connie Anderson, in Vancouver, Wash.

Alverta was born in Wellsville, Utah, the last and eighth child of Robert Painter Leatham and Alverta Luella Jensen. Her brothers were Horace Leatham, James Leatham, Linden Leatham, Robert Paul leatham, and Warren Leatham, all are deceased. She had two sisters, Veneta Nielsen and Lavoyle Stenquist also deceased.

Alverta was raised in Wellsville and graduated from high school there. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert Rucker, in the Logan Utah Temple in 1945. They lived in Utah where they had two daughters, Connie Gene, in 1949, and Carol Marie, in 1952. Alverta worked at Bear River Bank. Alverta and Bob moved to Rupert, Idaho, in 1957, to homestead a farm. Alverta worked as a clerk at the USDA-ASC office in Rupert until her retirement. They had a son, Robert Curtiss Rucker, and a successful farm by 1962. Later in life she moved to Burley, Idaho, where she had many friends and enjoyed walking and gardening.

Alverta was preceded in death by two of her children, Carol Marie and Robert Curtiss; and all of her immediate family members and most of her friends. Alverta is survived by her daughter, Connie Anderson; and son-in-law, Jerry Anderson; and a large posterity of ten grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Alverta was a quiet and gentle woman. She was very self reliant, very organized and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 19, at Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home, located at 1350 E. 16th St., in Burley, where a visitation will be held from 10 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Rupert Cemetery.
