Jean Leigh Perkins RUPERT – Jean Leigh Perkins, a 59-year-old resident of Rupert, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at her home.

She was born Jan. 6, 1963, in Montpelier, Idaho, the daughter of Vaness Perkins and Karen Leigh Hayes. Her siblings are Eric (Barbra) Perkins, Gayle Crane (Joe Schaeffer, fiancé), Cathryn Smith, and Keith (Jaime) Perkins. Her daughters are Amanda (Alan) Hill and Christa (Mike) Anderson.

In 1991, Jean joined the United States Army and served two years of active duty. Upon her honorable discharge, she joined the Washington State National Guard where she served for 13 years. In 2005, her guard unit was activated and she was deployed to Iraq for one year. She then returned home and served as a civilian contractor for the next eight years.

In 2015, Jean decided to come home to Idaho for good. In 2016, she went to work for Southern Fabrication Works in Burley, where she remained employed until August 2022.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale Rasmussen, and VanNess and LaRae Perkins.

She is survived by her daughters, Amanda and Christa; her mother, Karen; five grandchildren; all of her siblings; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - Rupert West Stake Center, located at 26 S. 100 W., in Rupert, where family and friends will be received from 9 until 9:45 a.m. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. Snake River Canyon National Cemetery, 1585 E. Elm St., in Buhl.

Arrangement have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen-Wilson Funeral Home of Burley.
