ALMO – Ronald Charles Ward, age 62, of Almo, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2013, at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.
Ron was born on March 11, 1951, in Ogden, Utah, to Wesley Bradbury and Edna Elfrieda Kolb Ward of Almo, Idaho. He was the youngest of seven children. Ron was raised on the same centennial ranch that he later owned and operated himself for all of his life. He graduated from Raft River High School in 1969 where he excelled in athletics, particularly track and field. Ron then went on to earn a degree in agriculture and mechanics from Utah State University where he was proud to be a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. It was at U.S.U. where Ron met the woman he married, Venna Kae Cornia. The couple was married on Nov. 10, 1972, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple. They recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.
Ron and Venna then moved back to Almo where they established their home and Ron purchased the Ward family ranch. Ron took great pride in his cattle and his work as a rancher.
Ron and Venna were blessed with five children, Danielle, Ryan Wesley, Rhett Cornia, Kari Edna, and Reagan Ronald. Ron was an excellent father and grandfather and provided a wonderful life for his family on his ranch. Ron passed along his integrity and values of hard work, honesty, and love of family.
He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in callings in the Sunday School, Primary, Melchizedek Priesthood and on the activities committee.
He is survived by his wife, Venna Ward; his children, Danielle Ward (John), Ryan (Kyra) Ward, Rhett (Jenifer) Ward, Kari (Mitchil) James, and Reagan (Shaylee) Ward; his grandchildren, Dalton, Hadley, Tytian Taylor, Rylan, Ruger, Lexi, Maci, Bryce, and Cheyenne; his siblings, Robert (Nancy) Ward, Patricia (Alvin Bud) Anderson, Elaine Fowles, Eugene (Leanne) Ward, and Richard (Cindy) Ward; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Ward.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roscoe Ward; a brother-in-law, Ronald Fowles; and his nephew, Russell Fowles
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 20, at the Almo LDS Church with Bishop Michael Spencer officiating. Burial will be in the Sunny Cedar Rest Cemetery.
